Velvet blanket darkness [2000]
Vapor trail behind her, she moved so fast
I saw the glimmer of sunset on her wingtips
Like dewdropped leaves, echoes rippled past
And when it was silent again, she walked
Alongside me in the velvet blanket darkness
How, I said to her as forest needled cushions
Pricked our soles though lightly we stepped,
Can it be we still speak across the oceans
When in waking we cannot touch our fingertips
Together we in the velvet blanket darkness
Gently she reaches to my quickening heart
And speaks in muffled ears with unmoving lips
Yet I understand every word, her unseen art,
Then do we know how the minds of lovers meld
Forever be in the velvet blanket darkness
