Cherished Moments [1993]
Waiting
As the morning slips through the blinds.
Petty conversation bides our time.
The caffeinated ones flitting in and out of the couch
Staring at a blank TV
Making plans for a day that soon will end.
Waiting
for the microbial gases in our hearths
to cause our souls to rise with time
the bluish light of overcast skies dulls the eyes
cute words and people
making wounds in a silence that soon will end
Wanting
to be near you as the floodwaters rise
The music echoing passed time
The clock moves sluggishly even when ignoring it
the soured script I write
Making irony in a duet that soon will end.
Make the best of the time between,
for we soon will find that it
was these that were our
cherished moments.
